Mission Statement

To provide and promote occupational therapy services in nontraditional settings to meet our clients’ unique and personal needs.

Where Access To came from…

Where Access To is going...

Access To began in 2025 as a means of implementing occupational therapy in my career as an occupational therapist. While working towards my doctorate in occupational therapy, we were encouraged to use our creativity to solve problems and prioritize our clients’ personal factors, needs, and desires. After practicing in a traditional setting, I began to notice the “box” occupational therapists are placed into in the United States healthcare system, and noticed I was drifting further and further from those foundational theories and ideals of a profession I fell in love with.

Currently, the focus of Access To is to address sex and intimacy from an occupational therapy lens for clients seeking sex therapy. An area of practice that gets overlooked and dismissed in traditional settings, which is well within our role. But that is not all I envision for this therapy practice…

While in my graduate program, I studied the potential role of occupational therapy in the travel and tourism industry as a means to improve the travel experience for people with disabilities. The next goal of Access To is to further study, promote, and eventually provide occupational therapy to support individuals who want to travel, and to educate the tourism industry itself to improve accessibility and accommodations for individuals with disabilities. Stay tuned!

From there, who knows! I would love to see Access To become a place to promote other therapists who apply occupational therapy in nontraditional settings. To support the “out-of-the-box” occupational therapists who want to help clients in areas of life outside of a medical or school focus.
